Outreach Opportunities
East White Oak has adopted Irving Elementary School in west Bloomington for the 2011-2012 school year. We have also seen God open the door to establishing a small outreach center at 502 S. Morris, which will expand our ability to develop relationships in the community. Stay tuned for more details!
Opportunities for you to get involved...
Needed: Breakfast foods and snacks for students at Irving Elementary School
Many of the boys and girls in the lower elementary school classes come to school having had no breakfast, and, sometimes, little since lunch at school the previous day. The classroom teachers at Irving Elementary School attempt to provide nourishing breakfast items and other snacks during the day. The boys and girls in K-2nd grade have all their active classes at the beginning of the day and they do not eat lunch until 12:55 PM. They can use healthy and nutritious snack foods. There are close to 400 students at Irving Elementary School in 17 different classes. Many of these students do not have breakfast before coming to school. We are collecting these items weekly in a large plastic tub by the West Bloomington Outreach table in the long hallway. Your help is greatly appreciated by us, the teachers, and the STUDENTS! We will be having a special drive in January 2012.

We are collecting Box Tops for Education coupons or Irving School. You can bring your box tops to the West Bloomington Outreach table in the long hallway and put them in the container. Lunch/Snacks for Teachers and Staff
We are providing a light lunch or snacks for the teachers and staff at Irving School on the second Wednesday of every month. Thus far this year we have provided pizza, pumpkin treats, turkey subs, and Christmas goodies. The dates and menu for the upcoming months are as follows:
December 14 - Christmas goodies
January 11 – Homemade soups
February 8 – Chocolate/Valentine treats
March 14 –
April 11 –
May 9 – Pizza

Math Tutoring and/or GED Coaching
Dates and Times will vary
If possible, we would like to offer math tutoring to a variety of ages and even coaching for those preparing for the GED test. Times could vary widely, according to needs and availability of student and tutor. This ministry will depend on volunteer interest.
Monthly Weekend Outreach Opportunities

We would like to offer monthly outreach opportunities that would be generated by special occasions and/or holidays. These might involved a meal or relevant activity. Please let us know if you are interested in helping, and we will keep you posted on the details as we make plans.
