Join us as we read through the Bible together beginning January 1, 2019.
One of the great affections that all true believers have is a hunger for God’s Word. In fact, the affection for God’s Word is one great evidence of the new birth. In John 8:47, Jesus says, “Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” If this is true, then all who are believers in Jesus here at The Oak long for the Word of God in our lives (1 Peter 2:1-3). We delight in it (Psalm 1:2), and the Word of God is more desirable than gold and is sweeter to us than honey (Psalm 19:10).
Therefore, the elders at The Oak are raising a challenging call to our church family. We want to read through the Word of God together as a church family in 2019. We will be using the ESV Study Bible plan which joyfully takes us to four portions of the Bible each day. At normal reading speed, it takes 10-12 minutes per day to read through the Bible in a year. Some clear instructions on how to join in are found on this page. We will have lots of ways to participate, including being able to listen to the Bible being read. The elders invite every girl, boy, man, and woman with this affection for God’s Word to join us on this adventure. Let’s Experience the Word Together in 2019! — Pastor Scott
