Soup and Sandwiches

Picture Lunch crew at Irving - Soup and Sandwich Lunch at...On Wednesday, January 11, 2012, we took in lunch to the teachers and staff at Irving Elementary School.   The menu consisted of two homemade soups (a cheesy vegetable and hamburger barley), plus sub sandwiches, crackers, and a variety of cookies for dessert.  We not only provided lunch, we personally served the staff and teachers during their lunch time.  The day was a huge success.  The teachers were so appreciative and thankful, not just for the meal, but for the service, too.  We have received a number of thank you’s from the staff expressing how delicious the soup was and wonderful the service.  When I arrived, I could smell the soup as soon as I entered the building.  Wow!  But our prayer was that the aroma of God’s grace would overpower the smell of the scrumptious soup that had been prepared.

We will be either providing snacks or lunch on the second Wednesday of every month for the remainder of the school year.  We are planning to take in chocolate treats on February 8.  If you would like to bake something, would you please let Sharryn Swanson know?  You call email her at or call her at 451-1430.  Check out the Outreach website to see how else you can get involved in our adoption of Irving Elementary School.
