Easter Changes Everything
There is much to complain about these days. We complain about the economy. We complain about higher taxes and lower morals. We complain about our jobs, and we complain about the lack of a job. We complain about the weather and the catastrophes that are plaguing our world. We complain about our spouse, our children, our parents, and our neighbors. We complain about our health and about our health care.
But in the middle of all this complaining, I want to draw your attention to a very important event:
JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD.
This changes everything. We don’t have to complain about money or jobs. Jesus has promised that He would supply all of our needs (Philippians 4:19). We don’t have to complain about the low morals in our culture because that’s what sinners do—they sin. Instead, Jesus has given us a mission to tell everyone about Him (Matthew 28:19-20). We don’t have to complain about the weather or even the catastrophes because we serve One who will set everything right one day (Revelation 21:5). We don’t have to complain about our neighbors or our families because Jesus has put us in His family (1 Peter 2:9-10). We don’t even have to complain about our health because Jesus has conquered death and promises to take us to be with Him forever (John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57).
So, this Easter season, perhaps you would like to resolve not to complain but rather to exclaim. And the exclamation is: He is risen! He is risen indeed! And that changes everything.
To see how Christ’s resurrection changes our purpose in life, I encourage you to attend our services on Easter weekend. Even better, invite a friend or family member to join you. We will have a wonderful time of fellowship with breakfast served by our amazing EWO youth, and we will learn how Jonah was a sign of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord.
Pastor Larry and his outreach team have made invitations for you to use in inviting folks to our Easter services. These invitations include a helpful map and an explanation of Easter events here at East White Oak. Be sure to pick up several invitations over the coming weeks and hand them out. We want the whole world to know about our Savior.
Love and grace in Jesus Christ be yours!
Pastor Scott
